but we're never gonna survive unless we are a little crazy...

I've been MIA this week and I apologize for that! Life takes its toll on you and you lose track of your daily routine. I've been pretty busy as of late and I find myself wanting to do nothing more than just sleep. Unfortunately it never works out like that for me. I got inducted into an honors society on Friday and had an awesome dinner with my family, boyfriend and best friend. I'm pretty blessed when it comes to the support system I have. The mani I'm showing you today is the one I wore to that event.

Unfortunately right now I'm sporting naked nails. To you ladies who swatch multiple times a day (or at least it seems like that), props to you. I work two jobs, babysit, tutor, and go to school full time and try to do my nails every day but it's so hard. Ahhhhh. I went to a concert last night:

Alanis Morissette, YES she was awesome! Not quite what I was expecting. Her opening act was a rapper, who we found out was her... husband? Uh. Yup. His stage name is Souleye, look for his stuff on Youtube! He sort of reminds me of Channing Tatum. I think he's cute. The two are adorbs together.

Alright, back on topic.. here is the mani I am showing you today!

For my base, I used three coats of Zoya Ivanka. I sponged on top of Ivanka with China Glaze Optical Illusion, from the Prismatics Collection. Ivanka is as gorgeous as in pictures, but I didn't like how sheer it was. I thought it would build up better and be almost opaque in one or two coats, but it took three. Not a huge deal, and worth it for the beautiful shade, but I thought I'd throw that in there. Optical Illusion is yet another gorgeous Prismatic. I wasn't sure how I'd wear this one because it's green and not as versatile as the others (fun fact: green is my favorite color but I more or less hate green polish. Hmph.).
I like this look I came up with, and I got a lot of compliments on it. It gave me something to stare at while I was sitting on stage during the BORING awards ceremony last Friday, that's for sure!

paisley print + some food porn from the big e

Hiiii guys! Happy Monday! Hope you all had a most excellent weekend. I certainly did. I worked all of Saturday which is actually okay because my hours keep getting cut and I need the money. I took Sunday off so I could hit up the Big E. For those of you who don't know what the Big E is, you are missing out. It's this pretty big New England fair that happens every September during the last two weeks of the month. It's the same every year and that's why I like it. It's one thing in my life that I know won't change. The food, the music, the atmosphere... I just love it all.

Before I post some nailz I must share some food porn from the Big E. Plus a few more..

My two best friends and I stage-side: we had front row seats to see Rodney Atkins!

The giant pumpkins! A favorite of mine EVERY year.

Something new this year: fried. lasagna. Can you say heaven?

An annual favorite: baked taters from the Maine building

And these...? --->

Yup. Fried samoas.

Oh, how I love the Big E.  I genuinely try to eat pretty healthily and work out regularly but these two weeks... nope. No diet, no exercise regimen. I just enjoy myself. And it's worth it.

As far as manicures go... this is what I wore to the Big E yesterday:

This is two coats of Zoya Charla stamped with Sonia Kashuk Smoke & Mirrors. The stamping plate is from bundle monster's third collection- I forget the exact plate number. It's gorgeous, and comes out so well! I absolutely love the way a silver foil looks stamped over shades like Charla- think OPI Catch Me In Your Net, etc. My fave.

Day 12: STRIPES

Hey hey! :) Happy hump day. I worked a realllly short shift today and planned to be super productive afterwards... that plan completely died. I came home and got pizza for lunch with my mom. We watched The Voice while we ate lunch. It was nice to spend some time together. :o) Not to mention I am becoming obsessed with The Voice. Arrrgh! Blake Shelton + Adam Levine.. and Michael Buble is joining the mix as a mentor... can it get any better? I'm in a picture mood today... here is Blakie & Adam if you have no idea who I'm talking about (or if you want a photographic reminder ;D).

YUM. I will take the both of them. But mainly Blake. Really.

I've seen Michael Buble in concert twice. The second time, we were in the 2nd row and I touched his
hand as he walked by. By touched, I actually mean grabbed & wouldn't let go of. *swoon*

Ok. Done swooning. Back on task, back on task. I did like three different manicures for this striped theme but the first two sucked. My Seche kept ruining them.. and the colors weren't working out. So, I decided to revert back to what I like to call old faithful:

This is Essie Ole Caliente and China Glaze I'm Not Lion. I'm practically obsessed with how these two polishes look together. I can't even handle it. =O I'm just in awe. I've never striped it like this before, but I figured why not go for the gold. This was so easy to do. I slapped on a few coats of polish, a layer of Poshe (because Seche is being pissy), then used Scotch tape to add the lines. I love the middle two fingers where there's just one vertical line. So cute!

Let me leave you with a REALLY funny picture. I found this one when I was browsing on my Facebook for a picture of Michael Buble. This was my OPI stash circa April 2011. This means I've accumulated over 400 polishes in about seventeen months....

My caption on Facebook for this one was "This is $100 worth of polish..I think I have a problem" HAHA!

Josh Turner!

Hi everybody, happy weekend to those of you who have it off! I, unfortunately, do not. Today's my first Saturday back to work in three weeks... needless to say I am dreading it. As some of you may know, I work two jobs. Today is my long day where I work 9-4 and 5-9:15. Just the thought of it is terrifying. I have to go in shortly, but I wanted to post pictures from last night's concert. Like I previously mentioned, I won meet & greet tickets through Josh's fan club. Check this picture out!

Josh is GREAT! He was so nice, and put on a great show. I still can't believe I met him and got his autograph! So great. If you'd like to see more pictures, I have some up on Instagram-  my username is listed on the right side of my page!

In my last post I mentioned how I had an awesome mani planned.. sometimes, stamping just doesn't work for me.. usually if I'm rushing it'll come out bad. Unfortunately this was the case yesterday. :( I ended up wearing China Glaze Love's A Beach on its own. I didn't take any great pictures, but here are a few.

Here's a picture I took at the concert with my best friend! She's wearing Essie Cocktail Hour and Claire's Bedazzled as an accent.

Of course because I was in a rush I kept messing up this manicure... Ah well. It's a fun color and it served its purpose yesterday. I hope everyone who gets a weekend enjoys it... so envious of you all! Bye for now!

Red Solo Cup!

Happy FRIDAY! I haven't posted in what feels like an eternity! Work and school has caught up with me and I haven't really had the time to indulge in polish! :'( That all changes this weekend- I have an EPIC weekend ahead. Some of you may recognize the title of my blog post and what it refers to; I'm talking about the Toby Keith song RED SOLO CUP !! I'm seeing Toby in concert tonight so I had to attempt some red solo cups on my nails. This manicure also subsequently celebrates Wear Red Day which promotes awareness of heart disease. Check it out.

China Glaze Ruby Pumps

China Glaze and I have a love/hate relationship.. I got Ruby Pumps in a Secret Santa gift I did with a polish Facebook group I belong to. I decided to try it a few days ago and I really liked it! I got a lot of compliments on this color and it put me in the holiday spirit.

OPI Light My Sapphire with DS Original

Hi ladies! It's been a hell of a Monday; I am EXHAUSTED! Tomorrow is my "sleep in day," I get to sleep in till 9:30/10 yay!!! Considering I'm up by 7am every morning I am very excited to get a few extra hours of rest. It's definitely well-needed.

So, I painted this manicure yesterday afternoon. I started with OPI Light My Sapphire, a corny title that reminds me of that song by The Doors, Light My Fire. Reminds me of an ex, lmao! This color was awesome, but I was feeling something flashier. Here's Light My Sapphire alone:

Now, on to the real goodies! After the cut you'll see more pics of this holo goodness, plus a picture of my awesome nail mail I received today!!
