Day 13: ANIMAL PRINT

Hi everyone! It's Thursday, and a GREAT one at that! My last class of the day was cancelled, and I don't have to work today because I'm going to a concert tonight! Yup, another country concert.. I've gone to at least thirteen this year. Definitely my guilty pleasure (besides nail polish...).

I wanted to do a sort of... closure manicure. Closure of the end of summer. The last full out neon manicure before they sit in my melmers until next spring/summer. Not that I strictly follow color/season rules but I like wearing darker colors in the fall and winter. Here's what I came up with.

I used Nina Ultra Pro Solar Flare and China Glaze Pool Party. I have a serious weakness for China Glaze neons.. they are just beautiful! This manicure didn't photograph too well. I personally like how it looks in person better. I used Konad stamp m57, which had both a zebra and a cheetah print stamp. I used Fingerpaints Black Expressionism to stamp. This manicure is so much fun. I actually really like the yellow. I layered two coats of each polish over two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. Using white for a base under neons makes them really really bright, as you can see above.

Day 7: BLACK AND WHITE

Hi ladies, happy Friday! Today I tried a stamping pattern for my black and white mani. I just received some new polish in the mail from Zoya so it was hard to put those aside and wear black and white.. wah!! That's definitely the hard part of this challenge! Anyway, here is what I ended up with today:

My black was Nina Ultra Pro Black and my white was OPI Alpine Snow, my go-tos. I'm not sure why my stamping didn't come out so good, but I didn't have the time to re-do the mani so this was my end result. The stamp I used was bundle monster-319.

Do you like the puzzle piece look? I'd love to see how this looks with different colors.

Day 4: GREEN

Hi guys! Happy Tuesday (that really feels like a Monday)! I go back to school today, but I'm only taking two classes so it'll be a nice and easy semester. My goal is to work a lot and save up a ton of money and go back to full time classes in the spring. It's refreshing that my classes aren't until 12:30 and are only Tuesday and Thursday. Wahoo!

I've got an untried on today! I decided to go with an unconventional green for challenge day four. I chose OPI Stranger Tides from the springtime Pirates of the Caribbean collection from last year. I just recently picked this one up.

This is three coats of OPI Stranger Tides stamped with a few Bundle Monster stamps in Nina Ultra Pro Black. This is a very classic look. Stamping with black over this shade is such a great look! I love this black for stamping. I was also happy with Stranger Tides. It went on a little streaky but I'm pretty sure that was my error, not the polish.

Let's go to the beach, beach!

Yep, I just quoted a Nicki Minaj song! That's because I'm going to the beach tomorrow! Wheeeee! Now as most of you know, I'm definitely a country girl when it comes to my taste in music. Buuut, whenever I'm at the gym I always listen to Nicki Minaj-esque music. This is the first song lyric that pops into my head when I think about the beach (of course right as I'm posting this, a Nicki song comes up on shuffle. hahahaha). So excited!

I wanted to do a more beachy manicure... everyone is posting fall collections and I am not ready for summer to end !!! I love the summer, and it always freaking flies by. Ugh. Here's a simple summery manicure:

This is Color Club Space Cadet. I have China Glaze Hang-Ten Toes. I stamped with Nina Ultra Pro Black. I like this Color Club color, it's so girly & fun. Application wasn't bad either. What do you think?

I've got a tennis ball on my nail!

this post was scheduled ahead of time! enjoy!
-> i'm busy TRYING to pack for my vacation.. i leave tonight at 1am! heading to washington, dc first!

I don't talk about things other than nails on here so as not to bore all of you, but today I'll give you a glimpse into the ever-exciting life of Emily. As some of you have have seen on my Instagram, I went to a tennis match on Sunday! I used to go to school and live in Newport, Rhode Island but some stuff went down and I moved back home. Every year, I go back for the Campbell's Hall of Fame Classic tournament that takes place each July. I bought tickets to the final months and months ago, hoping to see my FAVORITE player, John Isner. He didn't disappoint; he made it to the final and won, too! It was a great day spent with my best friend. We spent the morning walking around downtown Newport and shopping, and spent the afternoon watching some quality tennis.

The final was John Isner vs. Lleyton Hewitt. Hewitt is a former world #1 so it was amazing to see this match-up. If you're a tennis fan, too, you'll share my excitement over the next few pictures!!

John Isner is 6'7": he towers over everybody.

Ok, ok; I'll spare you the rest and show you my nails now ;-)

Colors Used: China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise, OPI Alpine Snow, Sinful Colors White Nail Striping Polish, Nina Ultra Pro Solar Flare

I like how this came out! Nice and simple, just the way I like it. I used Alpine Snow under the neon yellow to make it opaque and bright which was a good idea. Without the white, vnl shows even with like, 100 coats. Yuck. Although I like the shade of Turned Up Turquoise, I hated the formula. Eh. Just too streaky to use and too hard to make look good. I like polishes that look good on their own, you don't have to try your hardest to get it to look good on the nail. But hey, that's just me.

I want to think of more tennis-inspired nail art to try... it's definitely one of the lesser appreciated sports and I'd like to feature it more on my blog. :-)

Pink Wednesday: Flashy Zebra Print

Happy Pink Wednesday!! I hope you all are having a good day so far. I just realized it's only 10 am, wtf! I've already been awake almost four hours.. that is seriously insane. My two classes are over so I'm just chillin' in the library.. I don't have to work until 11 so I'm doing homework relaxing until then. Last night I decided to try getting creative with my nails, and I didn't do a completely horrible job!

China Glaze Cyperspace Stamped

Happy Sunday! I'd like to show you all my first stamped manicure! I'm pretty excited about this one; a few got messed up but overall these nails look great. I'm in love with this stamping pattern, too. I got this China Glaze Tronica from Traci, and I love it! I also got High Def from the same collection.

Nina Ultra Pro Black + NFU OH 51

I know I had a flakie post the beginning of the week...but I got my NFU OH's in a few days ago and I couldn't resist this beauty! I apologize for not updating yesterday, Work has been crazy. Buuut, now I'm on a 4 day vacation, and it feels great!

The tops of the bottles are so cute- they're like mini corsets!

Ignore my awful cleanup and enjoy the rainbowy flakey goodness! I recently got an angled eyeliner brush for cleanup buuut I'm using non-acetone remover which SUCKS! I need to get some acetone. This is also only one coat of the black under one coat of the NFU OH, so I had tipwear really soon. Off to vacation now! The only reason I'm bringing my Macbook is so I can blog! ;)
